S02E19 Therapist Shawn Dinkel on Resolving Men's Anger

Shawn Dinkel is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Addiction Counselor (CACII) in the state of Colorado. Over the past 14+ years, he has facilitated more than 9,000 therapy sessions, 5,000 of those in group therapy.

In this conversation, Shawn and I explore the roots of men’s anger issues and the key to resolving them. Vulnerability and the ability to express primary emotions is at the heart of healing anger, and this is definitely a conversation where we get vulnerable as we explore this issue, sometimes treading into new territory and wondering out loud. In the first half of the conversation we discuss his journey as a therapist who focuses on men’s anger and rage, the problems with most psychology training, and discuss some of the more prominent male figures on the spirituality/self-help scene including Gabor Maté, Jordan Peterson and Jeff Brown. If you want to skip ahead to where we turn the focus to anger in particular, that happens around 40 minutes into the conversation.
